Who's got the Summer Crazies??

So, anyone who frequents this site will know that I am a fan of Warren Kinsella's. Yes yes, I know that many of you think he's a douche, but this is my blog and I'll like who ever I want. (ummm...na na na na, boo boo...?).

Anyway, Mr. Kinsella, my second favourite prince of darkness, wrote an interesting piece in the Toronto Sun looking at a smattering of recent opinion pieces regarding the co-mingling of church and state. These conversations, up to this point, have looked at Stephen Harper's faith and what impact it might have on his policy making. For background, the first salvo in this (newspaper made) issue can be found here

Now, I'm not going to wade into this particular topic, because I happen to agree with Kinsella when he says "If Stephen Harper regards his religion as his own business, the rest of us should mind our own." I also think that it's a real stretch to suggest that Harper has a disdain for environmental science because of his religion...unless you consider right wing orthodoxy a religion.

The part of Kinsella's post that really got me thinking, however, was the line that was at the end of this post on his website "(In an possibly unrelated mater, has anyone else noticed that it is Summer, and opinion writers are looking for things to have opinions about?)"

Thus, without further ado or further comment, I give you my top 3 "why the hell was this published" stories of the summer. Can you think of other obvious summer craziness? Any other news that would never have seen the light of day if it were September 8 instead of August? Leave it in the comments below!

NDP Car
  • I get it...a political party made a misstep. But really...don't we have anything better to talk about, it's politics, something sillier must have happened that day.

Mayor Ford
  • So in the Toronto Star's ongoing battle with good journalism when it comes to the Mayor of Toronto, they gleefully reported that Rob-sucksatbeingmayor-Ford was gifted a new Escalade from his brothers. This is a dumb enough story, fit only for long, hot, boring summer days...but then there were editorials all over the paper (this one is particularly crappy), and one even in Winnipeg. Oh dear lord.

Go forth my Paulitical readers, and find other hilarious, rediculous summer news!!
